Why tea?

Tea is one of the passions I have in life. I have many but a few other than my main, which are God, my family, yoga, cooking, writing, reading, and lastly, but not leastly, tea. I love tea. Loose-leaf tea is the absolute best but in a pinch bagged tea will do. I have so many cups throughout my day that I have now categorized my life into certain types of tea, or the aroma of certain teas (such as my favorite early grey) reminds me of times and places in my life. My first pregnancy was filled with cups of raspberry leaf and calming teas. My second pregnancy was filled with daily cups of loose-leaf raspberry tea and loose-leaf decaffinated green tea. And now my daily practice of drinking tea brings an assortment of tastes. Each cup different than the one before. I even shared a cup of tea with my daughter during bathtime last night. I just can't seem to get enough!

I am no expert in the area of tea but I want to be, and that desire alone is why I started this blog. I hope it inspires others to visit so that we may talk more of tea and learn from one another. Tea is so apart of my daily life that sharing it with others would be an ulitmate delight for me. So visit often and share your words of wisdom on tea!Happy tea drinking!

Freckled Face Mama's Sleepy Calming Tea
*All tea is loose-leaf and organic. If you can't find loose-leaf tea at your local-op, or such, look online.*
1-2 tablespoons German Chammomile
1/2-1 teaspoon Fennel Seed
1/2-1 teaspoon Anise Seed
1/2-1 teaspoon Fenugreek Seed
1/2-1 teaspoon Caraway Seed
1 teaspoon Mint, I used dried peppermint from my garden but any dried mint will do.
Pour hot, not boiling, water over tea mixture and let steep for 5-10 minutes. I put my tea blend in a permanent filter and put the filter in a small homemade teapot. Depending on the day I might drink in a ceramic mug or in a small clay mug. It is great by itself or enhanced with some local honey. My little ones, 2 years old and 6 months, both love this tea. Another blend I make is simply with Chammomile and dried Lavender Flowers.
